National Novel Writing Month

Each November the Library hosts events, activities, & prize drawings to encourage writers of all ages to set and meet personal writing goals.

The Challenge

The official National Novel Writing Month goal is to write 50,000 words during November. The Library's NaNoWriMo goal is for YOU to meet YOUR writing goals.

How to Join

  • Declare a Personal Goal: Sign up by November 15th, 2025 by filling out the online registration (or contact Alisha, 435-723-5850)
  • Start Writing: Writing begins at midnight November 1st and ends 11:59pm November 30th.
  • Win Points: Report weekly word counts and attend qualifying events to earn points for prize drawings.
  • Bask in Your Accomplishments: Hooray! Report your final word count and come to Open Mic Night to celebrate with other writers.

Points & Prizes

Attend Writing Group events and participate in NaNo activities to earn points. Each event or activity is worth 1 point. The more points you earn, the more prize drawings you can enter!

Points (14 points possible)

Prize Drawings

Earn points to enter drawings for one of three $25 gift cards or other writing-related prizes (limit 1 prize per participant). The more points you earn, the more drawings you are eligible to enter. Participants or their representative must be present to win at Open Mic Night on December 2nd, 2025.

  • Bronze: 2 points (entry for bronze drawing)
  • Silver: 4 points (entry for silver and bronze drawings)
  • Gold: 6+ points (entry for all 3 drawings)

Word Count Report
Skip Word Count Report widget

Report goal progress or word count each week for up to 4 points. Weekly word counts should include your TOTAL November word count.

FINAL WORD COUNT DUE: 2 December 2025.

Example: If you wrote 500 words during week 1 and 300 words during week 2, you should report 800 words at the end of week 2 (500+300=800)
